Ballet Slippers
Ballet Slippers, also known as Flat shoes or Ballet shoes, can be made from soft leather, canvas, or satin. Women traditionally wear pink shoes while men wear white or black shoes. Tan flat shoes can be worn during modern ballet by both men and women.
Split Soles and Full Soles
There are two different types of ballet shoes considering the sole. There is a split sole and a full sole ballet shoe. As the name implies, the split sole is when the sole is in two different pieces. The split sole allows more flexibility and contours more to the foot when pointed. Full soles are often used by beginners. They are usually cheaper then a split sole shoe. The dancer will often upgrade to the split sole as she advances.

Material
Ballet slippers can be made of different material. There are three main material in which they are usually made: leather, canvas, and satin. Some people favor leather shoes because they are long-lasting. Others favor canvas becuase they are less expensive and easily washable and "breathable". They do not, however, last as long as a leather ballet shoe. Due to wearing out quickly, satin shoes are worn for performances only.
